Herdsmen invade Adamawa community, kill 15

Suspected Fulani herdsmen, on Sunday, in a renewed hostility, stormed Kodomun village and other communities in Demsa local government area of Adamawa state killing no fewer than 15 people and injured many others.
Blueprint gathered that the casualty figures could have been higher as other villagers were still missing and their whereabouts yet to be known at the of the report even as over 40,000 people were said to have been rendered homeless as their houses were burnt by the attackers.
In a bid to avoid further escalation of the crisis and unravel the cause of the attack, the Adamawa state deputy Governor, Hon. Martin’s Babale, led a high powered delegations of security chiefs which included the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brigadier General Benson Akiroluyo  and Commissioner of Police, Ghazzali Mohammed accompanied by heavy military and police personnel for an on the spot assessment.
Their first major area of call was the palace of the paramount ruler of the Demsa the Hamma Batta, Chief Alhamdu Teneke where they commiserated with him and the entire people of Demsa local government, especially the affected communities over this unfortunate incidence.
They also assured him of their commitments to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice and appealed to people not to take law into their hands as government would not leave any stone unturned to fish out the perpetrators.
Also speaking, the member representing of Demsa Constituency in the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Lumsan Dilli, expressed concern that suspected Fulani herdsmen continue to kill their people without being traced.
He added that, the figure of those who lost their lives is far higher than the actual numbers of those killed in the incident as they whereabouts of many villages is yet to be known and called on the security agencies to intensify efforts to fish out the perpetrators and put a stop to this wickedness before it degenerated.
On her part, the newly elected chairman of Demsa local government, who is also the former deputy speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Fwa, called for more vigilance.
