IT was different strokes for different folks in the
Match day 27 fixtures across the country as all the home teams recorded
victories against their visiting opponents.
Enyimba FC of Aba once again smiled home with another 2-1 victory
over rival, Kano Pillars in Port Harcourt, even as Wikki Tourists failed
to return to Nigeria league top position after being forced by
NigerTornadoes to a 1-1 draw at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
The Peoples Elephant also defeated Pillars 2-1 in Kano in the first round of the championship.
Wikki will now be second on the table having recorded 44 points from
26 matches, two points behind new leaders Enugu Rangers who now top the
chart with 46 points.
Enyimba is now fourth on the table with 40 points, six points behind
new league leaders Enugu Rangers while Pillars is fifth on the standing
with 39 points.
Ifeanyi Anaemena fired Enyimba ahead in the 10th minute, but veteran striker Adamu Mohammed drew level a minute later.
Uche John scored the match winner in the 73rd minute from the penalty
spot after Stephen Chukwude was brought down inside the box on his way
to goal.
Rivers United enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 home win against Shooting Stars in Port Harcourt.
Guy Kuemian gave the host the lead on 10 minutes, while Fredrick Obomate doubled his side’s lead in the 27th minute.
At the Agege Stadium, MFM FC also beat Heartland 2-0.
Heartland missed the chance to take the lead in the 24th minute when Bright Ejike missed from the spot.
They were made to pay for that four minutes later when Ifeanyi Ifeanyi scored the opener through a penalty. The home side was awarded another penalty late in the second half but Ifeanyi’s effort was saved by Ebele Obi.
The Olukoya Boys were awarded their third penalty kick of the game
in the 59th minute which was coolly dispatched by Stephen Odey.
FC IfeanyiUbah edged El- Kanemi Warriors 1-0 at the FC IfeanyiUbah
International Stadium, Nnewi to extend her unbeaten run in the NPFL to
five games.
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors ended their four-game losing streak by
securing a slim 1-0 win against Warri Wolves with Chinenye Agoha scoring
the winner five minutes after the break
Lobi Stars earned a slim 1-0 win against Plateau United in Makurdi
with Kingsley Eduwo who missed a penalty in the first half atoning for
that miss by scoring the winner 10 minutes from time.
