| Chief Olisa Metuh |
Former National Publicity
Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has
denied reports that he was one of sponsors of the militant group, Niger
Delta Avengers (NDA).
A splinter group of the
militant organisation, which claimed responsible for bombings of oil
installation in Niger Delta, over the weekend, listed names of some
prominent Nigerians, which it alleged, were sponsors of the militant
group.
The splinter group, now known
as Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), in a statement by its
spokesperson, Mr. Cynthia Whyte listed Metuh and former president Dr.
Goodluck Jonathan as sponsors.
Others mentioned were Governors Nysome Wike and Sierake Dickson, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Edwin Clark among others.
But in a statement on Sunday, Metuh described the plot to link him with the militant group as wicked and devilish.
“I therefore find it very
cruel that any person would in any manner whatsoever attempt to
associate my name with anything to do with this group or its operations
and I still wonder what the motive behind this sinister plot is.
“Indeed, I believe this is a
wicked, cruel and devilish plot to link me with such activities and at
this very time, especially as the claim is outrightly false,” Metuh
stated.
